Whole of Mine Management

Delta SBD has been responsible for the total operation of Boral’s Berrima Colliery since 1 September 2009.

Berrima Colliery is an underground coal mine located in Medway in the NSW Southern Highlands. Operations are focused on development and pillar extraction, utilising breaker line supports.

Roadway Development and Support

Delta SBD has extensive experience in the development of longwall gateroads and main headings development, with work currently being undertaken on two development contracts at BHP Billiton’s Appin Colliery.

Secondary Support and Specialist Mine Services

Delta SBD has been actively involved at BHP Billiton’s Appin Colliery for the past seven years, providing tailgate and maingate services retractions and secondary support, largely utilising 3 electro-hydraulic tracked drill rigs.

Delta SBD has also been involved at Peabody Energy’s Metropolitan Colliery for the last six years installing all secondary support in the longwall gateroads. A second electro-hydraulic tracked drill rig was recently introduced at the mine.

Longwall Installations, Relocations and Salvages

Delta SBD is currently contracted to undertake 3 longwall moves at BMA’s Broadmeadow mine and 5 longwall moves at Peabody Energy’s Wambo mine.

The company will also undertake the surface building and installation of a new longwall for Whitehaven Coal’s Narrabri North Coal Mine – due to commence in early 2011.
