Berrima Colliery

Boral (Blue Circle Southern Cement) and Delta Mining have recently executed an agreement for Delta to be the contractor for Boral’s Berrima Mine, situated in south west Illawarra region. Delta will be taking over the management and operation of the mine from 1 September 2009.  The term of the contract is until 30 July 2015.  The initial plan is to produce 200kt per year using pillar extraction methods.  The coal is used at Boral’s Berrima cement works, which is about 5kms from the coal mine. Tim Jackson will be the Implementation Manager for the project and we are currently formalising implementation plans. This project is significant for DeltaSBD, providing a long term complete mine operation to our portfolio. It will reinforce our position as a major contractor for this type of project and hopefully open up other opportunities.
